Challenge

Create a design system to improve efficiencies for both UX and Engineering and deliver more consistent, accessible, and intuitive experiences for our customers.

Deliverables

The project included multiple workshops, usability tests, and ongoing open office hours. We are continuting to iterate and mature the design system. We self organized and followed a two-week sprint cadence with sprints reviews and backlog prioritization.

Role

Designed the early foundational styles for the design system before my role with the project transitioned into leadership and management as the design system matured.

Outcome

Momentum has been widely adopted across General Motors Financial’s digital products and websites.

The shift from a style-guide to a design system evolved our approach and collaboration with engineering from a page-by-page design approach to a component-based approach. This has resulted in lowering UX and technical debt and accellerating product time-to-market velocity.

Momentum was used recently in the redesign of our online credit app. The redesign resulted in a +21% lift in conversions, which results in an additional 1,200 leads per month.
